Three floodplain restoration projects highlight the power of collaboration under regional Pennsylvania’s clean water procurement framework
Follow the link to a Chesapeake Bay Program blog post, authored by Marisa Baldine, that covers three restoration projects funded by PENNVES, the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority. All three projects were implemented by RES as part of the Clean Water Procurement Program, which supports projects like these to improve water quality within the Chesapeake Bay drainage area in Pennsylvania.
“The goal is to encourage flooding in a controlled way in a controlled place.”
— Jon Kasitz, RES Northeast Client Solutions Manager
These projects combine pay-for-performance funding with the restoration of historic floodplains — reconnecting streams to their natural landscapes so they can handle storm events without flooding roads, farms, and homes. To write this story, Marisa joined a site tour with 20+ water resource professionals as they visited each project.
